Casa Grande,Arizona---Feb.29-Mar.4

March 3rd

Up and going at 8am. Driving 2.5 hours south to Tombstone.
The desert is always changing--different varieties of cacti, hilly, barren, mountains. We had some fresh pecans at a pecan tree orchard. We passed through the large city of Tucson. The town of Tombstone is a historical landmark with the OK Corral,Boothill Cemetry and original buildings from the days of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday. We had lunch at Big Nose Kate's Saloon and watched the re-enactment of the famous gunfight at the OK Corral.
We met up with Bev and Gerald at Catalina State Park outside of Tucson and
had dinner with them. We arrived back at our resort at 9 pm very exhausted.
Cooler 20 Deg. C today.

March 4th

We went on a shorter drive to Picacho Peak State Park to see all the different kinds of cacti.
The wild flowers were booming--beautiful. Lots of people hiked to the top of the peak, but it is a difficult 3 mile hike. Lynda and I went to bingo at the resort while the guys watched the hockey game. I won $10.00 Lynda won $18.00. It was profitable and fun. Warm 24 Deg. C.

Bon Voyage Sid and Carol ( Israel for 3 weeks)
Bon Voyage to the Levinsky's and Overmann's (Punta Cana DR.)

Feb.29th

We left Yuma at 9am and arrived Casita Verde RV Park(190 sites), Casa Grande, Arizona at noon---lots of cacti especially saguaro cactus along the way. Very hot mid 80's (35 Deg. C) We went to the free Sadie Hawkins dinner (ham and beans and corn bread) and dance at the resort. Everyone dressed up. They had a hillbilly shotgun wedding skit.
During the chicken dance six people were dressed up in yellow chicken costumes. The husband/wife duo were terrific singers. What a hoot!!!!

March 1st

Very hot again 35 Deg. C. We toured around Casa Grande and some other RV resorts-- Palm Creek has everything 2000 sites but very expensive. We signed up for a week with Coach intranet. I spent 3 hours catching up on the blog and the photos. Hope you enjoy the effort!

March 2nd
We drove 30 minutes to the Casa Grande Ruins-over 800 year old native American settlement.
Then we headed north west near Phoenix to Rawhide and spent a few hours at the replica of the old west town. We stopped at a casino for a hour. Lynda was lucky again ($50.00). By the time we got back it was very windy.
