Casa Grande and Apache Junction, Arizona-- March 5th to 9th
March 5th
We toured around the countryside. We saw the large state prison at Florence and had a beer at the American Legion. Ralph and I went to the resort's dinner Indian Taco night for $6.00. The homemade Indian fry bread and all the trimmings was delicious. The volunteers wore Indian headdress and were very friendly.
March 6th
We did some laundry in the a.m. At 11am I went for a haircut and color near the resort. I spent the rest of the day reading and relaxing in the pleasant 24 Deg. C. tempertures. We finally heard from Karilee after about 12 days. Her computer had crashed and internet access is expensive in Australia. She is having a great time. Her photos are amazing. We talked to Derek,Carol and Liam. Carol is 36 weeks pregnant now and doing fine. Liam is doing lots of talking.
March 7th
We packed up and drove a hour and a half to Apache Junction (near Phoenix). We are staying at Golden Sun RV Park (330 sites) for at least a week. After lunch we participated in the resort's Fun Daze Games---shuffleboard,pig race, golf ball toss etc. We had alot of fun. We had dinner on the patio of Dirtwater Springs Restaurant and Bar and listened to a guy singing.
March 8th Happy Birthday Linda O. and Jean M.
We went to Golden Sun's pancake breakfast for $3.00 each (eggs, bacon, sausage and all the pancakes you can eat). We drove 3 miles down the road to Mesa's Swapmeet(1600 stalls).Lots of stuff and people.Hard to see it all !!!. The day started out cloudy but turned sunny and hot by noon.
March 9th
Ralph and I stopped by the Swapmeet to pick up a couple of items. We drove to Gold Canyon to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum--a horticultural display of desert vegetation (flowers, plants trees, cacti , shrubs etc. from Arizona and deserts from around the world). It was amazing.
The Brooks enjoyed the company of Bev and Gerald while we were gone. The 6 of us had happy hour and appetizers. We had a roast beef dinner outside --prepared by the Brooks .
Photos posted later.
